Once your school is connected to Blackbaud SKY API, there are best practices to follow for a smooth and accurate syncing experience.
1. To maintain data accuracy, it is essential to request the removal of old data before running a new sync. It is better to do before you invite teachers to your conference. Please note that full data deletion can only be performed on our end. Please contact us at support@ptcwizard.com and we will take care of it!
2. If a new school year does not automatically appear in Academics or Advisories, go to the Integration tab and click on the SKY API Terms Imported circular arrow icon. This will refresh the information and pull in the latest data.
If the new school year does not appear after you click the circular arrow and refresh the page, you may need to re-authorize the SKY API. You can find detailed instructions on how to do this in our article.
3. When syncing both Academics and Advisories, we recommend syncing them separately to ensure accuracy.
4. Before starting a new sync, make sure to review the Exclude Sections. Check that all courses you wish to exclude are properly marked, so that only relevant courses are synced. However, you will be able to exclude them later in Classes Directory.
5. Avoid manually creating accounts for teachers or parents. Manually added accounts will not be connected properly and these users will not be able to log in.
